I suppose that people soon realized that they enjoyed the company of their humans, and would do whatever it took to make people smile. Then they became the popular pets that we know today.
Their sense of joie de vivre has made them extremely sought after, prized and appreciated members of their families.
They are excellent companions, enjoying the company of young and old humans alike. They also love the company of other canines, and they don’t have to be poodles!
Their non-shedding coat is agreeable to most dog-allergic people.
